The cardholder&#8217;s bank investigates the dispute and decides whether to uphold or reject the chargeback based on the provided evidence from both the cardholder and the merchant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are the steps of a chargeback:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>A cardholder sees a charge on their credit card and feels it is not a valid charge (more on this below).<\/li>\n<li>The cardholder\u00a0contacts their bank and requests a\u00a0chargeback<\/li>\n<li>The bank takes the charge off the cardholder&#8217;s credit card<\/li>\n<li>The initial purchase amount and a chargeback fee are withdrawn from the merchant&#8217;s bank account.
